「柔和な上下関係」 2025 ペインティング アクリル絵具、キャンバス 220 × 273 mm（F3) ed. unique 子供の頃、カマキリを飼ってみたくて、ダンボールで部屋を区切ったカマキリの家を作り、朝捕まえたカマキリを入れておいたことがあった。カマキリの家にはちゃんとベッドを設えた寝室があって、私は夜になってから、カマキリはそこでちゃんと眠っているだろうかと、覗くことにした。カマキリの目は、夜になると黒くなる。私はそれを知らなくて、真っ黒に染まったその目を見て、とんでもない恐ろしいものを拾ってきてしまったのではないか、と混乱し、半泣きで彼をつまみ、外へ放った。優位に思えていた私とカマキリの関係は、一瞬で崩れ落ちたのだった。 一方猫は、とてつもなく可愛い。私は全てがプラスマイナスゼロになるのが安心なので、どこかに何かを隠していて欲しいと願っている。あの可愛さの裏にあるなにか、あの夜のカマキリのようなもの。あるいは、カマキリと共謀した、何かとてつもなく大変な事件、起こってくれた方が安心する。 "Gentle Hierarchy" 2025 Painting Acrylic on canvas 220 × 273 mm（F3) ed. unique When I was a child, I wanted to keep a praying mantis as a pet. I made a little "mantis house" by partitioning a cardboard box and placed the mantis I caught in it in the morning. The mantis house even had a proper bedroom with a bed, and at night, I decided to peek in and see if the mantis was sleeping there. The mantis’s eyes turn black at night. I didn’t know that, and when I saw its eyes completely darkened, I panicked, thinking I had accidentally brought home something terrifying. I quickly scooped it up, almost in tears, and released it outside. The sense of superiority I had felt in my relationship with the mantis instantly crumbled. On the other hand, cats are incredibly cute, but I find comfort in a sense of balance, where everything equals out to zero. So, I secretly wish there’s always something hidden somewhere. Something behind that cuteness, something like that mantis from that night. Perhaps, a huge, overwhelming event, something I could face alongside the mantis, would actually make me feel more at ease.
